Bholaa, or The Ancients, are a collection of water-dwelling species from a planet from the distant reaches of space. They are the creators of the chaos emeralds and they were the ones who opened the original gate that let The Black Goat into this dimension.
They knew The Black Goat as "The Shadow", a being or immense force that was hidden just beyond the veil that separated this dimension and the next. Because of the innate magical power that all Bholaan possessed, they were all able to feel The Shadow and all knew it to exist. Some Bholaan feared The Shadow and some revered it as a deity, but all could feel its presence.
